DONATE.
Thank you to all that have so generously donated already. The goal of our donation fund has always been to raise the money necessary for handling Zach's appeal because the costs are high and finances were pretty well exhausted in the years leading up to his trial. With the donations already received, we were able to retain Attorney Natalie Wisco to handle Zach's appeal. Each step of an appeal comes with additional costs and fees, so we will continue to need to fundraise.
So far, $50,000 of the donations raised have been extracted from the GiveSendGo and used on the initial legal costs of retaining counsel. Additionally, this funding has afforded us the cost of all transcripts and gives Natalie a little money pot with which to start obtaining necessary experts and investigators to rebut the information presented in trial.
In March of 2023, we truly never thought we would get to the point we are. We (members of the Anderson family) had many conversations immediately after the verdict to figure out how to proceed, considering all of Zach's money was spent on his initial defense. Initially, the idea of trying to raise the money for legal costs seemed like a daunting and impossible task, but it was the only way to guarantee Zach wouldn't be waiting months to years for an assigned public defender. We did wonder, though: who would want to donate their hard earned money to someone the state was trying to paint as a monster? But, we were determined to push forward until the whole world knew and could truly understand what Kenosha had done to Zach. We were lucky enough that as the days went on post-verdict, person after person found and messaged us to tell us how outraged they were too. Those people, and everyone that has found us since has only furthered our resolve and given us the strength necessary to fight this fight. None of this would be possible without the FZA community.
We are continuing to raise funding because the $50k, sadly, is just the beginning of the appeal costs. Each tier of appeal costs more money; investigators cost money; experts cost money. And, if Zach is granted a new trial, the defense team for the re-trial will also cost money. We have come so far, but have a long way to go. If you are able and wish to help, please visit the link below. All donations, big and small, bring us once step closer to seeing Zach's wrongful conviction overturned. Thank you.
