All envelopes and packages must be labeled with the Zach's full name, DOC number, and a return address. We suggest also writing your return address in the body of your letters or cards if you wish for Zach to reply.

All physical letters are processed through a service called TextBehind in Maryland and then sent to Zach in Wisconsin. They color photocopy the original content, shred the originals, and forward the photocopies to the correctional institution. It has been averaging anywhere between 1-4 weeks for Zach to receive mailed letters.

TextBehind does also offer an alternative and faster method to sending mail, which is accessed either through their website or by downloading the TextBehind mobile app. Generally, the text cards and messages are printed and shipped to the facilities within 2-10 business days. However, this service does come at a cost to use.

Prohibited Items:
Any envelopes with incomplete or missing information is considered undeliverable and will be returned to sender. Letters received at the institution will also be returned to the sender to be re-mailed to TextBehind in Maryland. Items considered prohibited:
  • Inappropriate photos
  • Greeting cards that are musical, pop-up, contain glitter, have multi-thickness, or have items glued to them
  • Gift cards, cash, or personal checks
  • Anything classified as contraband (see the WI DOC General Info Page Link at the bottom of the page for more info)

Adding to Zach's commissary funds.
