The special needs committee declined my request for a heating pad, which is tremendously helpful for my back. They instruct me to put warm water on a rag. Doesn't work. Tried it repeatedly in jail. The water doesn't get hot enough, or stay hot enough. It is just a deflection and an indirect refusal. A warm rag has never alleviated a muscle spasm. Skipped rec and physical therapy, and ate all of the bread I had saved up.
Managed about three and a half hours of sleep but awoken by the slosh of keys by some inconsiderate guard doing rounds. It sounds like a bag full of silverware tumbling down steps. Each step a tiny little crash so the inmates don't forget who has the keys and who doesn't. Don't think so? Well the doors are all manipulated by the sergeant in the control room and open and close with the hiss of some air pressure mechanism. Late at night there is very little that needs to be manipulated with a physical key. Plus, why not tuck them in a pocket on a tether? The metallic splash with each stride is just done to be disruptive. Not being able to sleep makes days extremely long. Did you fall asleep? Stand for count!
