As obnoxious and annoying as some of these guys are, they sure can be funny sometimes. When they bring inmates chow, or exchange linen. or whatever interaction they have with inmates while in their cell, they ask we turn the light on to indicate our participation and for their safety, to see inside the cell. As an example, if the guards come through for linen exchange, we turn the light on so they know we want to trade out our bed sheets. They announce it, we turn our light on, and business is transacted. Chow; same thing. The guard yells "meals!" and guys who want a meal tray turn their lights on. One of the guys mimics the guard who is a female and has a higher voice, but instead of saying "meals" he repeatedly yells "meows!" Other inmates hearing the "meows" calls then start meowing at the guard. Because, as usual, some of them are also whistling at a female walking through, the range is echoing with whistles, meows, and "meows!" while they deliver chow. Silly. Funny.
